H.S. Students Suspended For "Twerking"

If anyone follows me on twitter, it’s pretty clear that I hate stupid trends like planking, owling, and gallonsmashing. Not included in this list, but still worth mentioning, are dance-trends.

Anyone remember the Macarena? Yeah. Exactly. Which is precisely why I’m not upset about hearing of these 33 high-school kids who were suspended for “Twerking” at school.

Not sure what “Twerking” is? The video below will help.

The students who appeared in the video may be banned from prom and prohibited from attending their own graduation for shaking their asses on school property.

One Scripps Ranch HS student tweeted, “Suspended, banned from prom, and prevented from walking at graduation all because of an awesome twerk video. I don’t understand.”

It turns out the Scripps Ranch HS student handbook prohibits “verbal, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature made by someone from or in the educational setting.” So, I guess twerking falls under that umbrella.
