NEW X-Factor Judges?

I thought the last season of the X-Factor was pretty entertaining with Britney Spears as judge, but I don’t know so much about L.A. Reid. Just announced Kelly Rowland (Formerly with Destiny’s Child), and Latin singer Paulino Rubio are the 2 new judges to The X-Factor this year. Does this make you want to keep watching? — Maynard

“After weeks of rumors, former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and Latin singer Paulina Rubio have joined ‘X Factor,’ replacing Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.

The duo’s star power — combined — is considerably lower than Brit Brit’s, but both have reality singing competition experience. More importantly, they displayed chemistry with the other judges, which was paramount in their hirings, as they will infuse the panel with exciting new blood.

Rowland and Rubio join returning judges Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell. So the acid-tongued Brit is outnumbered by ladies!

“It’s taken more than a decade but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!),” Cowell said in a statement. “Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel. It just feels like the time to do something different.”

…and to do something to make the show a success, which it hasn’t been. It’s floundered since its 2011 debut and is in a genre with overall dipping ratings while fending off lots of competition.

“I am very excited to be reuniting with Simon Cowell and ‘The X Factor’ family,” said Rowland, who worked on the U.K. edition of the show. “It feels great to be able to take this journey here at home in the States!” Rubio, who appeared on ‘The Voice Mexico,’ was equally stoked, saying, “I love ‘The X Factor!’ I can’t wait to find the next big music star here in America. I’m so thrilled to be part of the show as a judge. Simon, be careful what you wish for, let’s see if you are ready to handle me, empieza la fiesta, amigo!”

Mario Lopez will return to the role of host.”
