Bummer news for people who like good news. Robin Williams AND Shia Labeouf are both entering (or appearing to be entering) treatment. Details below. [TMZ]
Robin Williams is at a rehab facility again called The Lodge — essentially a program to maintain long-term sobriety. We’re told Robin will be staying for several weeks.
Robin has struggled with addiction for decades. He cold turkeyed cocaine and alcohol in the early 1980s and was sober for 20 years … then fell off the wagon. He went to rehab in 2006.
As for Shia… [TMZ]
Shia LaBeouf showed strong signs today he’s getting help for some kind of substance abuse issue in the wake of his string of bizarre meltdowns. Shia was in the L.A. area … clutching an Alcoholics Anonymous book.
We don’t know if Shia is just reading up or taking more formal action … but it would seem there’s a connection to his arrest last week after causing a scene at Studio 54 in NYC. As we reported, there have been other — apparently alcohol-fueled incidents — at a strip club in New York a week earlier and at a restaurant in L.A. a month ago.
Like I said, these stories are never fun to read. The upside (and there is always an upside), is that hopefully this means more brilliant work from both of them in the near future!
