My Mom, My Best Friend

Wow.  How to describe how/why my mom is the most wonderful mother.  What a task!  I can remember when I was a child (7-10 years old) and mom always being tired.  I then realized that she's always had her plate full.  Living in Hawaii, my mom wanted to go to work and help dad with the bills, dad was in the military.  When she applied at various places, she was told that her high school diploma from the Philippines wasn't good enough/or equivalent to the US diploma.  During the time that dad was out to sea (nine months at a time), mom decided to work grave yards and went back to school to get her actual high school diploma.  I remember going to one of her classes and seeing her fall asleep, but miraculously she aced all of her classes!!  It was gut-renching to see my mom try so hard and push herself to the limit.  Her schedule consisted of her going to school during the day, coming home to do homework, clean the house, make us dinner, and then head out to work for the night.  If she caught any shut eye during the day, it was usually only for an hour or so, then it was back to work.  Throughout my whole life, my mom has worked and gone to school.  During the years, her hard work has cost her her health.  Even through her struggles medically, she still has the motivation to go on.  She currently works for the Washington State Ferries, for about 10 years now, and is continuously going to school/training.  Through work, she was offered a retirement plan and declined it so she could send that money to the Philippines to take care of her mother.  Imagine how much retirement she would have if she invested it instead of sending it.  My grandmother died last summer and mom has now said she's going to take care of herself.  I have a younger brother that is still living with my parents and she's still working hard to help him and his year old son.  And often now I hear my mother saying that she would LOVE to be able to take some time out to take care of herself.  She is now a grandmother of 3 and never stops giving.  Every once in a while I'll check my bank account and find that there's extra money in there!  Come to find out, mom has deposited money for my girls!!!

Mom,  I love you.  You have taught me to be a strong woman and I'll never forget the sacrifices you've made for us!  I hope and pray that you receive this surprise spa treatment because you deserve it!  Take a day off for YOURSELF for once and enjoy it!!

Love,
Your daughter,
Just like you! :)

Morning Ladies!!!

My mother deserves a wonderful makeover because of course she is the best mom ever! Well she really is, she has supported me on everything I have chosen to do with my life, she is my best friend and my confidant. I am her baby (25), two older sisters and 3 older brothers. My oldest brother went to Iraq two years ago at christmas time, my mom organized and put together a stocking christmas for his entire troop! She had her crafty ladies group hand make all the stocks, than filled them with necessities and games. She also had an elementry school write letters to the troop to stick in the stockings.
She boxed them up and mailed them all out to Iraq just in time for Christmas, I attatched a photo of my brothers troop with their stockings.
She does everything for all of her kids and never ever close to anything for herself. She deserves a makeover to feel good about herself again and to feel beautiful all over. I'm getting married at the end of July and she is helping with so much, I wish I could repay her by making her a queen for the day. She deserves so much more!
Thank you for listening to me, I love you ladies and listen every morning, unless I'm at the gym or in the shower! :)

EMAIL 3. Sandra wrote for her Mother Annie Mae:

Hello Ladies,

Let me tell you about a women for as long as I can remember has given herself unto people. Especially children who were award to the state.  My mother was a foster parent for 35 years, with 6 children of her own. I am the 5th child now 52 years old. I believe with  all my heart that my mom has never  gotten the acknowledgment she so deserves. My mother has housed, feed, clothed, and most of all loved each and every child that came through our home. I remember how my mom never cooked in regular pots. They were always the big pots and pans you see in restaurants.  Every child the state sent my mom was always a problem child. They had anger problems, they couldn't talk or see due being born of mothers with STD's, and or drug addictions. I remember a drug addict mother gave her 6 month old baby to my mom in the grocery store.  My mom raised that child until he was 5 or 6 years old. There is another child I remember who is now in his 50's living in Western State who my mother still manages to visit and has for the past 30 years.  I have so many stories I could tell about this wonderful women who now lives in a senior citizen housing alone, and lonely. I would like to give back on behalf of my family, and  for all the people she touched in such a wonderful way.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MAMA! I love u

Thank you,
Sandra

EMAIL 4. Dana wrote for her Mother Joann:

Monte & Brooke,

I listen to you guys off and on while driving to work. While I am not an emotional person, I was almost in tears before work today listening to your Mother's Day stories & letters from listeners about their moms and I can't help but throw my mom into the hat.

My mom, Joanne Allen, is amazing. If I am half as good of a mom when it's my turn, I'll be doing just fine. She was always there for me and my 3 younger brothers, always playing mediator when we fought, always had an ear for us when we needed her, gave up a lot to spend time with us and make sure we had a good life. My mom umpires in the local little league and school district (she and my dad actually umpire together), she's been active in her church and community for years! I am constantly in awe of all she does without going crazy.

September 1st changed my family's life forever. My 22 year old brother Doug was killed in a car accident while camping in Ellensburg. My mom, while devastated, has managed to be there for us through our grief as siblings and as a wife to my dad. I could not have made it through this without her.  September 1st was exactly one week to the day before my birthday, 3 weeks to the day before my wedding, and 3 weeks before my youngest brother's 14th birthday. My mom was ADAMANT we not hold the funeral on my birthday and probably would have picked Doug up from Ellensburg herself  to make that happen. She helped me during the last 2 weeks before my wedding to get the rest of the little things done even though my parents had to meet with prosecutors & lawyers while slowly finding out more details about my brother's death. On the Big Day, we visited the cemetery together and cried. It was a VERY bittersweet day for all but my mom managed to pull through and ensure I had a fantastic wedding and honeymoon.  I can call my mom day or night if I'm having problems with my grief. We check on each other to see how the other one is doing. She ensured we had a wonderful Christmas, even buying all of us presents and stuffing our stockings, which I know was terribly difficult since she had one less stocking to fill. She has put her grief aside many times to help me or my 2 brothers or father, or Doug's long time girlfriend, get through this rocky time. I cannot even imagine the pain she's experiencing, but above all, she's a mom to the rest of her kids.

For this and so many other reasons, my mom is an amazing, outstanding woman with more strength than I can ever hope to have. She's is a wonderful example to me and my brothers, as well as to all women.  I know she has reached out through her grief to help other women in the same situation.

As I stated earlier, I can only hope to be half as good of a mom as my mom was to me, but I had a great teacher.

Sincerely,
Dana

EMAIL 5. Kristen's email for Jojo:

Hello. My Mothers name is Jojo and her is my story.... I am 25 years old and still depend on my Mom to be by my side for everything (and she always is). My mom was single Mother of two and believe me when I tell you that we never gave her a break! We were like hell on wheels. LOL! Needless to say, she loved us anyway and always did anything and everything that she could for us.
I just had a baby boy who is now 17 months old. My sons Father and I broke up when he was four months old and my Mom welcomed us into her house with no hesitation. She would wake up with him (more often then not) just to help me out and let me sleep. She was more helpful then I could have ever hoped for.
Many people can say that they get along with their Mom or she that she is a friend to them. I can go as far to say that she is my best friend! She is the person I call when I am having a bad day, when I need to vent or just want to know if I can pull of a certain outfit.  She is the one person that I know will tell me the truth or give me the advise that I need.
My mother recently has been struggling with some very unexpected medical issues and things have been financially and emotionally hard. I cannot think of any Women more worthy of a relaxing day then her.
P.S.
This is so perfect for her, because she has been dying to have something new done with her hair. (She is also recently out in the field for new Love, so a makeover would be great!)

Thank you and Please, Please, Please pick my mom!

Have a great day! Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Kristen

MONTI'S BEAUTY BUSTER: A Healthy Clean

If you wake up with puffy, red, dry skin, then you might be using the wrong laundry detergent! Get rid of the irritation by switching detergents, you need to wash your bed linens and towels in a "free and clear" detergent (like All Free Clear). That's cause regular laundry detergents don't remove dust mites, cat dander and other residues that leave your skin less than happy.
